Introduction of hospital

The Mongolia Japan Hospital of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) is a major infrastructure project established through the joint cooperation of the Governments of Mongolia and Japan. It stands as a symbol of the strong friendship and partnership between the two countries. Officially launched in 2019, the hospital is fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and internationally compliant infrastructure, and it has since been delivering specialized, high-level healthcare services to the public.

The hospital is composed of 34 structural units, which include 10 administrative departments, 7 clinical divisions, 11 clinical departments, and 6 specialized clinical centers. The outpatient department operates across 28 specialties—such as internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, genetics, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and psychiatry—providing services to approximately 600 patients daily and over 150,000 patients annually.

The Mongolia-Japan Hospital prioritizes patient safety and satisfaction, and it was the first in the country to successfully implement the “Patient Support Centre” in practice. In 2025, this innovative initiative was officially registered and certified by the Intellectual Property Office. The office is dedicated to protecting patients’ rights, providing information and support, and enhancing the accessibility and patient-centeredness of healthcare services. Efforts are currently underway to share and introduce this model to other hospitals across the country.

In addition, to save patients’ time and improve access to information, a “General Information Centre” has been established in the hospital’s waiting area. Through this center, visitors can quickly and efficiently receive information regarding the hospital’s service procedures, guidance, and other necessary details. The center’s operations are supported not only by hospital information staff but also by actively involving and encouraging the participation of volunteers.

Guided by the vision of becoming a “University Hospital that meets international standards,” we are committed to delivering high-quality and accessible specialized healthcare services nationwide. The Mongolia-Japan Hospital has been nationally accredited as a healthcare institution in 2019, 2021, and 2025, and has also achieved international quality certifications — ISO 9001:2015 in 2022 and ISO 15189:2022 in 2024.

Our hospital, led by the distinguished faculty members, doctors, and professors of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS), is committed to providing high-quality and equitable specialized medical services through a team of skilled doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. Our mission is to introduce advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies into the healthcare sector while ensuring excellence and accessibility in our services. In addition, as a university hospital, we continuously engage in education and research, playing a leading role in training the next generation of doctors, nurses, and healthcare specialists, and in localizing international best practices and cutting-edge medical technologies.
